Torino defender Emiliano Moretti has admitted that he was very emotional before making his debut for Italy on Tuesday night.
Moretti was part of the Azzurri side that beat Albania 1-0 in Genoa, becoming the oldest player to ever debut for the side at the age of 33.
“I’m very happy, it was very emotional to wear the shirt and sing the anthem.” Moretti told Rai after the game.
“We won against a good team so I can return to my club happy.
“When I was on the pitch I tried to do what the coach asked me, everything else during the game does not matter to me.”
Fellow debutant Stefano Okaka scored a late header to ensure Italy claimed victory in the friendly.
