Giuseppe IachiniPalermo coach Giuseppe Iachini feels his side could have gotten more after a 1-1 draw at Genoa on Monday evening.

The away side went ahead early on thanks to a brilliant Paulo Dybala strike, but Andrea Bertolacci levelled on 30 minutes to ensure the points were shared.

“We need to improve our efficiency,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

“We wasted too many chances today and should have gone 2-0 up, then wasted even more in the second half.

“Today we tried to impose our game on Genoa, and got less [points] than we deserved.

“We struggled a bit in the last 15 minutes of the first half, but in the second we had plenty of opportunities to win the game.

“[Mattia] Perin was excellent on several occasions.

“Our defence is getting better, and this has come through work done on the training pitch. The boys are finding the right understanding and the team has more balance.”

The result leaves Palermo unbeaten in four games and have moved to 13th place in the Serie A table, with Iachini explaining that president Maurizio Zamparini is the reason.

“The president deserves praise for out positive form and position,” Iachini continued.

“Despite a difficult start he backed me with the utmost confidence which put us in a position to work together calmly.

“This was ket for us and now we have to stay focussed because we are aware that Serie A is a difficult league.”
