Roma’s Maicon and Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa have been ruled out the upcoming match against Atalanta this Saturday , whereas Leandro Castan could make his return from injury.

Rudi Garcia has assessed the injury situation at a technical-tactical session held on Tuesday morning; the Roma coach was able evaluate the fitness of his players and decide who would be ready to play in Bergamo.

Defender Maicon is unlikely to join the team as he continues physiotherapy, as he recovers from an inflamed knee ligament.

Additionally, there will be further testing for Yanga-Mbiwa, who is currently on loan to Roma from Newcastle United. The defender recently suffered an injury of the semitendinosus muscle in his right thigh.

However, there is good news for Roma’s backline as Castan is set to travel with the team for Saturday’s match.

Roma currently sit second in the Serie A table, three points away from leaders Juventus. Atalanta, on the other hand, are two points shy of the drop zone, sitting in 17th place.
