Inter are one of a number of clubs chasing Barcelona’s Lionel Messi after it was reported he could be looking for a move away from the Catalan club next summer.

The Argentina superstar hinted earlier in the week the situation was complicated at Barca at the moment, but those reports where played down by the player’s father on Wednesday.

It is known though Messi became disillusioned last season after he had to stand trial over non-payment of taxes dating back between 2007 and 2009 and the smearing that followed from the press in Madrid and he also felt unprotected by Barcelona over the issue.

According to reports in Catalan newspaper Sport, doubts still remain over the long term future of Messi, and if he where to leave, Inter along with Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and Manchester City would be the four sides favourites for his signature.

It’s known Milan is a city Messi loves, and he enjoyed a good relationship with former Nerazzurri president Massimo Moratti, whom he met on a few previous occasions, and with new coach Roberto Mancini just appointed owner Erick Thohir could hand the new boss significant funds to rebuild the side over the next few years.

Any deal to bring the Champions League all time top scorer to the San Siro would require a huge economic investment from the Indonesian businessman and he would be competing with some of the richest owners in world football to capture his signature.
