Inter president Erick Thohir has emphasised that he intends to keep in contact with former Nerazzurri president Massimo Moratti.

Moratti quit his role as Inter’s honorary president last month and ended his 19-year association with the club.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Thohir has reiterated his desire to work with Moratti in the future and called for a round of applause for the former president which lasted several minutes at a board meeting on Friday in Milan.

The choice of Roberto Mancini as the new coach also speaks volumes for the relationship between the two as Mancini was one of the two choices put forward by Moratti to Thohir for the position.

Before Moratti left his position in October he claimed former coach Walter Mazzarri was living on borrowed time only for Mazzarri to respond he didn’t want to waste his energy answering him back.
