AC Milan coach Filippo Inzaghi believes Rossoneri owner Silvio Berlusconi is the soul of the club and insists the former Italian prime minister provides a calming influence on the club.

After a successful two year stint as Milan’s Primavera coach, including a Viarreggio Cup medal in 2014, ‘Super Pippo’ has brought stability to Milanello in the aftermath of the coaching carousel of the last Serie A campaign.

“I would love to take a group photo with our president who is Milan’s soul. With him we’re all calmer and his passion and will to bring Milan back to the glory days drives us,” Inzaghi was quoted as saying  by Milannews.it.

Sunday night’s Milan derby will be Inzaghi’s first as a coach and comes at a crucial time as Milan is pushing up the table while struggling Inter have just sacked Walter Mazzarri and welcomed Roberto Mancini back to the San Siro.

“My first goal in the derby is something I’ll never forget. I had the good fortune to score in my first derby and we won that match. It’s a memory I’ll always carry inside me,” Inzaghi stated.

“I met up with Mancini on Monday. There’s always been a great deal of esteem and respect between us and we’ll meet up on Sunday in a terrific derby. I hope we’ll win!”
