Italy and Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has been named as one of five goalkeeper candidates shortlisted for the FIFPro World XI.
The 36-year-old will contest the vote along with Manuel Neuer, Thibaut Courtois, Claudio Bravo and Iker Casillas.
The FIFA FIFPro World XI is decided by the players, and involves votes from thousands of professional footballers from around the world.
The rest of the final 55-man shortlist will be released in the next few days, where a team consisting of one goalkeeper, four defenders, three midfielders and three strikers will be picked from to form the final World FIFPro XI.
The list of defenders will be announced on Wednesday, midfielders on Friday and strikers on December 1.
FIFPro and its national affiliates are responsible for gathering votes from professional footballers worldwide and the final vote should truly reflect the views of professional footballers worldwide.
