Gianluigi Buffon’s love affair with Juventus is set to continue after the goalkeeper put pen to paper to extended his contract until 2017.

Buffon is still the clubs number one and has been an ever present in this season. The World Cup winner is into his 14 season since he joined the Turin giants for a record breaking fee from Parma in the summer of 2001.

As reported by Tuttomercatoweb, the 36-year-old is delighted to have sorted out his future.

“It’s a special and rewarding day for me and signing again makes me proud of the choice I made 14 years ago. I have grown as a person as well as a player.

“My story goes on. This could likely be my last contract, although we’ll have to wait and see.

“I’ll try to continue at a high level to remain a point of reference on the field and in the dressing room.

“I had everything I could want and search for, Juve will never owe me. You might get something unexpected in the future.

“It takes energy and courage to make my career last longer.”

A possible objective for Buffon in the future is the opportunity to appear at a sixth World Cup, and become the only player in history to have done so.

“Of course there are still dreams. There are no limits knowing that there are important goals to achieve.”
