Inter midfielder Zdravko Kuzmanovic has revealed that Walter Mazzarri’s sudden exit from the Biscione surprised him but admits that the arrival of new boss Roberto Mancini has already had a positive effect on the club.

The Nerazzurri had been unable to maintain a steady pace in the Serie A under Mazzarri which led to the former Napoli coach being replaced by Mancini, who has previously seen much success at the helm of the San Siro outfit during his first stint from 2004-08, on November 14 and the 27-year-old believes that the tactician will be able to help the Milan side drastically improve as long as the squad does their part as well.

Kuzmanovic spoke to Libero about the relationship he had with Mazzarri and the coach’s departure from Inter, while also commenting on the faith he has in the highly decorated Mancini.

“My first impressions of Mancini are definitely positive,” said the Serbian international. “This is the first time that I’m getting to know him but I already knew that he was a great coach.

“He has won a lot in his career, he will certainly be able to help us. However, now it’s also up to all of us players to give our best.

“I was very surprised by Mazzarri’s departure, it wasn’t something I expected at all, but the club made the decision.

“I had a good relationship with Mazzarri, even while I wasn’t playing often. The only thing was that we had been missing the results and had earned fewer points than expected.”
