Manchester United are reportedly set to continue their fight for the signature of Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman with hopes of signing him during the January transfer window.

The 24-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to the Red Devils in recent months despite his ongoing recovery from a knee injury and the Serie A side’s unwillingness to negotiate a transfer, and it seems the English club have no intentions of giving up on the former PSV Eindhoven man at the moment.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal is ready to do whatever it takes to be reunited with the Dutch international, as the two worked together during the tactician’s time as Netherlands national team coach, and is expected to contact Strootman’s representatives once again in the coming days with wishes to begin negotiations for a January switch.

The midfielder, who joined Roma from PSV for a fee of around €19 million in July 2013, has scored a total of five goals and provided six assists in his 25 Serie A appearances for the Giallorossi since his arrival.
