Inter coach Roberto Mancini seemed happy with his side’s performance in the 1-1 draw with rivals AC Milan.

The Nerazzurri went behind in the first half after Jeremy Menez scored a sumptuous goal, but Joel Obi equalised in the second to give the teams a point a piece.

“Derby matches are always difficult,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

“I’m very happy with how my team moved on the field

“After years with different formations, I don’t think I am able to change the team in five days, it still takes time, but we still want to win games even if we are not in the best shape.

“First we need to score when given the opportunity, even though there are errors.

“I also had some injured players and others who have just recovered. I don’t know all the different qualities of my guys.

“[Yann] M’Vila has to improve his condition, as does Hernanes who could only make it to the bench.

“We also have to improve on the movement of the strikers, but that just takes time.

“The back four takes a little longer, although some already play this way for their national sides. It is normal after a year-and-a-half in a back three for there to be come problems when changing.

“The most important thing is in the penalty area to man mark, zones don’t exist.”

The former Manchester City boss was then asked about the individual performances of Mateo Kovacic and Fredy Guarin.

“Kovacic is young, so I don’t want to put any more pressure on him. It is normal for him to make errors in difficult situations.

“There is work for him to do, he can play multiple roles and there are issues there like in the defensive phase and number of touches etc.

“I am happy with Guarin’s performance, I think his midfield role tonight was correct.”
