Andrea Mandorlini Hellas VeronaHellas Verona coach Andrea Mandorlini is not using his side’s multiple injury absentees as an excuse for their recent poor form in Serie A ahead of their match against Sassuolo.

Verona have failed to win in six league games, including a crushing 6-2 defeat at the hands of Napoli, after they had begun the season in promising fashion, however Mandorlini is refusing to blame the slump solely on an injury crisis.

“There are injuries and there will always be injuries, we have a squad that can perform as we have done many other times,” he told reporters at a press conference ahead of his side’s visit to the Neroverdi.

“Talking about injuries is not an excuse, the squad has its merits and shortcomings like every other team.

“[Are there any fresh injuries?] There are the ones that you know about and we have no fresh injuries to worry about.”

Mandorlini also discussed his side’s chances of claiming all three points from their away travels.

“The difficulty of the game? We will have to wait and see what happens.

“Sassuolo are a side that plays in a conservative style like us.

“They are a good side, and have had six consecutive good results and is shows they are in good form.”
