Claudio Marchisio believes the 2-0 win over Malmo will set Juventus up well for their push to get first place in Champions League Group A from Atletico Madrid.

Fernando Llorente put the Bianconeri ahead on 49 minutes, before Carlos Tevez wrapped up the win late on. As a result, should Juve defeat Atletico in the final game they would finish top.

“We got an important win, which will prepare us for the battle for first against Atletico,” the midfielder told Sky Sport Italia.

“We got two results from our last three games, and we mustn’t make any more mistakes.

Marchisio was then asked about the improvement in the second half which resulted in two goals, with the Italian grabbing an assist on Llorente’s opener.

“Tonight we played an a poor pitch, but the important thing is that we imposed ourselves in the first half,” he said.

“In the second half, we showed our quality and won the game.

“Carlos [Tevez] should also get credit for the first goal, as he took away the man. We try those movements often.

“They [Malmo] dropped their level in the second half an we were able to find more spaces, and on this occasion Llorente was cool in front of goal.”
