AC Milan could be preparing to welcome back Alessandro Matri in the place of the outgoing Giampaolo Pazzini.

The Rossoneri attack has been the subject of intense scrutiny as Pazzini is said to be feeling unsettled at his lack of playing time, and moves to Fiorentina and Lazio have been mooted.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Pazzini’s place in the squad could be filled by Alessandro Matri, who currently is on loan at Genoa.

Filippo Inzaghi has had difficulty juggling the strike duo of Fernando Torres and Jeremy Menez so far this season, with Pazzini left further out in the cold, having made just five appearances this season all from the substitutes bench.

Should Pazzini leave then Matri would be a like-for-like replacement for the former Sampdoria goal poacher.

Thirty-year-old Matri has scored five goals in nine Serie A appearances for Genoa this season, as well as assisting three others which has seen the Grifone rocket to fifth in the Serie A table.
