Lazio captain Stefano Mauri has demanded three points from his side’s trip to Chievo this weekend and has urged his teammates to rediscover their winning mentality.

The Biancocelesti went on an impressive run of five wins from six games between the end of September and start of November, but have since suffered from successive defeats to Empoli and Juventus respectively.

While speaking to Lazio Style Radio, Mauri outlined the importance of his side returning to form when they travel to Verona for their next Serie A fixture this Sunday.

“We have to take the three points,” he said.

“It will be a difficult match against Chievo as they are always a tricky team to face when they are at home.

“We have been too erratic in our approach at the start of this season and we can’t allow that to happen if we are to become a great side.”

Lazio currently sit in sixth place in the table, having slipped down from third in recent weeks.

“The season is very short and other teams are also encountering problems,” Mauri continued.

“We have to look at ourselves, in the last two matches we have lacked the team mentality we had before and we must rediscover it.”

The Aquile captain has recently returned from injury and suggested that he will  soon be fit enough to feature again.

“I’m doing well physically, yesterday I started training with the team again,” he went on.

The 34-year-old has been at the Roman club since 2006 and has scored three goals in seven league matches so far this season.
