Sampdoria coach Sinisa Mihajlovic ripped into his players for their poor first half performance after only taking home a 1-1 draw from their away match against Cesena on Sunday.

The Blucerchiati salvaged a point thanks to a late Constantin Nica own goal and Mihajlovic was adamant his players could have done more in order to claim all three points.

“I am not satisfied with the result. In fact, I am very angry,” he told Rai Sport after the match.

“We created chances even though we played poorly in the first half while we did well in the second half and we still needed a gift to score: we play but we don’t score.

“We can’t throw away these chances. We deserved more than a draw for what we produced, but if you can’t win it’s better not to lose.

“Scudetto? We must bring our feet back to the ground. I can’t understand what happened in the first half, when our heads were somewhere else.

“I will speak with my players. We showed that we are better than Cesena in the second half, with 19 shots and a post.

“How will the derby end? I am an Inter fan, how do you want me to respond.

“Amongst other things I have a friend there [Roberto Mancini] who is coaching there and we speak often. I hope he gets off on the right foot, even if it isn’t easy.”
