Ashley Cole could potentially be set to leave Roma come the January transfer window with MLS club NYCFC eyeing the player.

Cole was linked to the MLS before signing with the Giallorossi, after his contract with former club Chelsea was not renewed, but has since struggled to adjust to life in Italy.

As a result, a report by British newspaper, The People, indicates the potential move could see Cole and former teammate Frank Lampard, currently with Manchester City, link up in the Big Apple ahead of the new club’s debut season.

Claudio Reyna, ex Manchester City player and current New York City Football Club sporting director, has stated Lampard is expected to join NYCFC in January despite being named Manchester City’s player of the month for September after a run of four goals in three games.
