James Palotta RomaRoma president James Pallotta has admitted UEFA’s Financial Fair Play rules are not a cause for concern for the club, because the club is moving in a forward direction.

Pallotta became the majority shareholder at the Giallorossi after succeeding former president Thomas R. DiBenedetto in 2012.

Speaking to ESPN, Pallotta believes Roma cannot be punished for the financial mistakes created by its predecessors and stated the new Serie A television rights deal was unacceptable.

“I think that UEFA will be pleasantly surprised by what we [Roma] have done in recent years,” Pallotta explained.

“We cannot be penalized for what was happening before we came along.

“For us it is absurd to sign an agreement for the TV rights for six years with no increase in revenue.”

Pallotta then went on to discuss future plans to build a new stadium by 2016.

“We would like to start in March and complete it for the 2016-17 season,” Pallotta said.

“We have good prospects and are happy to be in Rome rather than London where teams have restrictions on what to do with their own stadium.”
