Roberto Donadoni’s job is hanging by a thread after his Parma side were comfortably beaten 2-0 by Empoli at the Stadio Ennio Tardini on Sunday afternoon.

Strikes from Matias Vecino and Francesco Tavno put Parma to the sword and consign the Gialloblu to a eighth defeat in their past nine league outings.

Parma remain bottom of the table but are now four points from safety. Tuttomercatoweb have reported this latest set back could be the final nail in his coffin.

The Parma hieracrchy are thought to have alternatives in mind with Davide Ballardini and former Lazio coach Edy Reja in the frame to replace the former Azzurri boss.

Another option could see Primavera coach Hernan Crespo promoted from within and get his first shot as a top flight coach.

The legendary Argentine striker enjoyed a four-year spell with Parma between 1996-2000 before returning a decade later to finish his playing career with the Gialloblu.

The 39-year-old Crespo scored 72 times in 162 outings over his two stints with the club.
