Lazio coach Stefano Pioli was critical of his side for failing to must a response after falling behind during their 3-0 defeat to Juventus on Saturday night.

The Biancocelesti were swiftly brushed aside by a rampant Bianconeri, and while Pioli is aware of Juve’s strength, he was bothered by the lack of fight his side showed at home.

“Juventus must be complimented but the team could have and should have reacted better after the first goal,” he told Sky Sport Italia after the match.

“Up until that point the match was even and both sides were playing. That’s taking away nothing from Juventus who are a great side.

“We didn’t create a lot, but at 0-0 there were several chances. We wanted to play between the lines and we weren’t always able to do so.

“They closed well and after the 2-0 it was tough to be on the pitch. We must work, the mentality is to always press high but there aren’t always the conditions to do so and we must communicate better on the field.”
