Genoa

Mattia Perin – 7.5 – Beast

Kept his side in the game by producing many saves, including a stunning save to deny substitute Robin Quaison’s header in the second half.

Facundo Roncaglia – 6 – Solid

The Genoa man showed solidity in defence, but could’ve received his second booking for a challenge on Dyabla in the second half.

Nicolas Burdisso – 6 – Calm

Looked calm and composed in defence; however, he was almost caught out by Dybala in the first half which could’ve ultimately led to Palermo’s second.

Giovanni Marchese – 6.5- Determined

The centre-back provided adequate defensive coverage at the back, but also pressed forward down the left-hand side when his side were in need of a goal.

Edenilson – 6.5 – Electric

Was extremely active during the first half by drifting between right and centre, and was able to cause the visitors lots of trouble with his electrifying runs.

Leandro Greco – 6.5 – Pivot

His darting runs down the centre for Gian Piero Gasperini’s men was a main source of trouble for the Rosanero. The former Roma man created a few chances and was able to distribute play to the wingmen.

Andrea Bertolacci – 6.5 – Metronome

The youngster showed his worth in the first-half, as his vision allowed him to create many dangerous openings in the Palermo defence – duly awarded with a goal for his first-half performance.

Luca Antonelli – 7.5 – Experienced

Composed and experienced are the best words to describe the Genoa skipper on the night who produced a brilliant display down the left. His perfectly timed tackle to win the ball from Michel Morganella led to his side’s opening goal.

Iago Falque – 6.5 – Alright

The 24-year-old’s frequent movement around the penalty area created a real threat to the Palermo defence, and his combination with Bertolacci led to several openings in the first half. However, he was sacrificed during the break for Mauricio Pinilla.

Alessandro Matri – 5.5 – Isolated

The former AC Milan and Juventus man was unlucky to get his name on the scoresheet on a couple of occasions, but the Rosanero’s tight defence often prevented Matri from operating inside the penalty area.

Diego Perotti – 6 – Good

The Genoa number 10 was extremely active down the left-hand side during the first half, but his work rate decreased significantly in the second period, failing to keep up the intensity of his performance.

Substitutes

Mauricio Pinilla – 5.5 –

The Chilean came agonisingly close to scoring against his former side as he failed to hit the from point-blank range.

Juraj Kucka – N/A

Giannis Fetfatzidis – N/A

Palermo

Stefano Sorrentino – 6.5 – Present

The 35-year-old produced many saves towards the end of the first-half to deny Genoa their second goal.

Ezequiel Munoz – 6 – Powerful

Although Palermo’s defensive line was far from perfect, the defender was able to deter danger coming his way.

Giancarlo Gonzalez – 6 – Disciplined

The Costa Rican played a sizeable role in closing his side’s defence in the second-half. With the exception of the Pinilla chance, he was able to prevent any major threat in the second-half.

Sinisa Andelkovic – 6 – Focused

Similar to his defensive partners, Andelkovic was able to contain Matri for most of the striker’s time on the field.

Michel Morganella – 6.5

His unawareness led to Genoa’s opening goal, but other than that he was relatively active down the right-hand side, and his crosses were often a source of trouble for Gian Piero Gasperini’s men.

Achraf Lazaar – 6 – Astute

Defensively astute throughout the night, and was able to provide adequate coverage down the left-hand side.

Edgar Barreto – 6.5 – Leader

The Palermo skipper was extremely nonchalant in the middle of the park, often surging his team forward with his pinpoint passing and astute vision.

Enzo Maresca – 6.5 – Anchorman

Extremely quiet during the first half, but gradually found his feet in the second half to play a sizebale role in the Rosanero’s midfield.

Ivaylo Chochev – 5.5 – Invisible

His workrate down the left-hand side was less than expected on the night – lasted 66 minutes before he was replaced by Roberto Quaison.

Franco Vazquez – 6.5 – Tireless

Worked tirelessly to help his side throughout the night, and even came close to scoring an absolute screamer, only to see his left-footed strike slam against the post. However, the 25-year-old also missed a great chance to give his side the lead when his free header went wide of the post.

Paulo Dybala – 7.5 – Dangerman

Curled one past Perin in the opening minutes to score arguably one of the Serie A goals of the season, and was definitely Palermo’s main danger man throughout the night.

Substitutes

Robin Quaison – 6.5 – Addition

Provided more attacking dimensions than Chochev, and even came close to scoring with a diving header, only to see it saved by Perin.

Andrea Belotti – N/A

Granddi Ngoyi – N/A
