Roma are potentially interested in signing either Rolando or Eder Balanta during the January transfer window to provide depth for their defensive line during the second half of the season.

Roma have lost starting center-back Leandro Castan who has to undergo brain surgeryin December to remove a cavernoma, a congenital vascular alteration of the brain, with the 28-year-old likely to miss the remainder of the season. With potential advancement into the knockout stages of the Champions League or Europa League the Giallorossi will need reinforcements to provide defensive cover.

According to Calciomercato.it, Roma will wait until the beginning of the winter transfer window to assess their options with Rolando and Balanta being their preferred targets.

Roma would be open to taking Rolando on loan until the end of the season, with Vlad Chicheres or Matija Nastasic as backup options.
