Roma’s Gervinho is said to be the subject of a new scandal at the Felix Houphouet Boigny airport in Abidjan.

The Roma forward, after playing for Ivory Coast against Cameroon last week in the African Cup of Nations qualifier match, found himself in a fix attempting to smuggle a woman to Italy.

The Giallorossi had provided the Ivory coast international a private jet to return back to the Italian capital, however when the footballer turned up at the airport he was accompanied by a blonde girl.

I Mattino reports that Gervinho bribed four Ivory Coast airport staff to ignore the fact that his female companion wasn’t authorised to board the flight.

Reportedly the player then tried to convince the pilot to agree on the extra baggage, to which the pilot refused flatly as he had strict instructions to return only with the player; as such, the woman was left behind.

Gervinho’s efforts have caused the four members of the airport staff to lose their jobs after authorities fired them from their posts.
