Sampdoria’s sports director Carlo Osti declared that the club has no intention to sell forward Stefano Okaka during the January transfer window, whatever offers come on the table.

The 25-year-old Okaka, who recently debuted for Italy in the friendly against Albania, has revived his career since moving to the Blucerchiati and after failing to break into Roma’s first team. After many years and then failing to make any sort of impact at Parma and Fulham, Okaka is now excelling.

“It is absolutely out of question to sell him [Okaka] in January,” Osti told Telenord.

“The club will not give in to pressure and if we want to keep our momentum going, we need to keep Okaka.

“We will do everything to keep him but we don’t have much luck with his agent [Andrea] Cattoli.”

Osti also touched on the situation with the defender Vasco Regini, who has also been linked with an exit from the Stadio Luigi Ferraris.

“The same thing is happening with [Vasco] Regini,” Osti said.

“For Okaka’s contract we will see what happens; obviously by June, something must be done.”
