A total of five draws on Saturday insured much of the Serie B table remained unchanged after the 15th week of play. Serie-B-300x181

Carpi were fortunate to remain atop the table in a raucous match that included two expulsions, four penalty kicks and saw the Biancorossi claw back from a two goal deficit in the 88th minute to earn a 3-3 draw to Brescia at the Stadio Rigamonti.

The clubs set out under the watchful eye of Italian U17 coach Daniele Boratto but it was a wily 33-year old veteran who paced the Rondinelle attack with a hat trick. Andre Caracciolo put Brescia up just past the half hour mark when he was pulled down by Emanuele Suagher defending a free kick and the lanky striker easily converted his chance.

The Biancorossi quickly answered when Riccardo Gagliolo acrobatically leaped to head in a corner and send the sides to the dressing room even at a goal apiece.

Suagher was the recipient of a controversial second booking, again for a clash with Caracciolo in the area, in the second half and Carpi found themselves a man and a goal down.

Yet another penalty kick goal for Caracciolo appeared to settle matters with less than 10 minutes to play, but substitute Roberto Inglese scored a pair including a lovely flick-on header in the game’s dying moments to secure Carpi maintained pole position in the Serie B standings for another week.

In another stoppage-time nail biter, Spezia came back to draw 1-1 against Bologna at home at the Stadio Picco despite being outplayed for long stretches.

The Rossoblu seemingly had the game in hand after Daniele Cacia’s started the second half by nutmegging Felice Piccolo in the area and slotting his shot past Leandro Chichizola and the visitors barely missed on doubling their advantage on multiple ocassions.

Lo Spezia made Bologna pay for wasting their chances and Piccolo would have his revenge when deep into stoppage time the 31-year old veteran’s looping header floated into the net.

Modena tasted victory at the Stadio Braglia for the first time in two months as they defeated a Pescara side that ended the match with eight men by a 2-0 scoreline which flattered the visitors.

Walter Novellino’s men were paced to victory by Argentine Pablo Granoche who bagged a brace and leads the Canarini with nine goals. The match was an ugly affair with a total of eight yellow cards and four ejections but the three points are a welcome site for a Modena side presently only four points off a playoff spot.

Bari picked up their first victory under coach Davide Nicola as they downed Trapani 2-1 with the Granata robbed of a victory due to two seemingly good goals which were called back.

A game of two very different 45-minute halfs at the Stadio Curi saw Perugia draw 2-2 with Ternana.

The Grifoni owned the first half and went into the locker room up 2-1 but could not hold on and drew their seventh match of the campaign.

Meanwhile Pro Vercelli easily dispatched Virtus Entella 2-0 and Cittadella finished with nine men but managed to hang on to a 1-1 draw against Vicenza, a result which still leaves Citta near the bottom of the table as the squad is winless in its last 11 matches.

Lanciano and Crotone drew 1-1 draw Avellino and Varese played to a scoreless draw.
