Silvestre - SampdoriaMatias Silvestre believes that his performances during his time in Serie A have been good enough to merit an international call-up.

The 30-year-old Sampdoria defender holds dual nationality and is eligible to represent both his country of birth, Argentina, and his adopted Italy.

“I feel upset that I have not had a call to play for the national team,” he told Genoa based Il Secolo XIX.

“In my seven seasons in Italy I think that I have always put in good performances on a consistent basis, I hope it [the call-up] comes soon.”

He then briefly discussed where any international future could lie.

“I have both an Italian passport and an Argentine one, it is not appropriate to talk about it because there is absolutely nothing concrete at the moment.”

Silvestre has been plying his trade in Italy since 2008 when he joined Catania and he has since played for Palermo, Inter, AC Milan and is currently with the Blucerchiati.
