Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone has cast a doubt over the future of winger Alessio Cerci, saying he does not know if the player will remain at the club.
The 27-year-old Italian international has struggled for form and game-time since making the move to the La Liga champions from Torino this past summer.
“Cerci to leave in January? You’d have to ask the sporting directors,” Simeone told Mediaset Premium after the 4-0 Champions League victory over Olympiakos.
“It is not easy. There are so many good players in front of him.
“I am the coach and at the moment unfortunately I am not giving Alessio the time he deserves, but I try to make the most of the characteristics of my players.”
Cerci has been linked with a return to the Serie A in the past few weeks, with Inter leading the pack.
