Udinese coach Andrea Stramaccioni says the international break came at the perfect time for his side as they look to get back to winning ways at home to Chievo on Sunday.

Before Serie A had taken some time off, the Zebrette’s form began to tail off somewhat as they registered just five points from six games after a superb start.

“The squad has worked very well and we took great advantage of the break to work on specific things and improve our overall condition,” said the former Inter boss in his pre-match press conference.

Of the things in particular that his side have worked on, chance creation has been a major staple of training sessions in the north east. “We have aimed our hard work at trying to put the attackers in a good position and in great positions to score.”

The game also represents a chance for Antonio Di Natale to continue his record-setting goalscoring exploits, causing his coach to offer: “We know that for Di Natale, the game on Sunday is a big one. He is our main finisher, along with Thereau.

“It can be a huge game for him and his personal records. In the game itself, we will show as much hunger and desire as Chievo to bring home the points and we are very motivated to do so.”

For the match, Stramaccioni’s side will be without forward Luis Muriel as he recovers from injury and are likely to be without Silvan Widmer who is in the squad but who is not 100% fit as yet.
