Inter president Erick Thohir analyzed many topics at a recent shareholders’ meeting, but Ernesto Pellegrini wasn’t one of them.

Much has been made of Pellegrini’s interest in linking back up with his former club. Pellegrini was Inter’s president from 1984 until 1995.

“I have a great relationship with him, I always greet him cordially when he enters the stadium,” Thohir said.

“But we did not talk about these things. I’m happy when I hear that someone wants to support Inter. It’s important to understand that Inter is a family.

“The support of the fans is very important, they must be part of the whole chain.

“Even for an experienced coach like [Roberto] Mancini, this is not an easy situation to get into.

“I am pleased that the people want to give their support to Inter.”

In recent days, Pellegrini has been rumoured to help Inter financially, by securing a group of investors.  It remains nothing more than speculation.
