Udinese president Giampaolo Pozzo has praised veteran striker Antonio Di Natale for recently scoring his 200th Serie A goal and insists that he’s a man of a rare breed.

The 37-year-old, who is number seven on the list of the Serie A’s all-time top goalscorers, has netted seven goals in his 11 league appearances this season and the Zebrette chief is proud of the team captain’s achievements during his 10 years at the club thus far, pointing out that he has only been getting better with age.

Pozzo spoke to Sportitalia about Di Natale’s successful career in Udine and his unique talent, while also commenting on Udinese coach Andrea Stramaccioni and the upcoming match against AC Milan on Sunday.

“There are few other people in Italy and Europe with Di Natale’s numbers,” said the 73-year-old.

“He’s an exceptional player who has become an even better player as the years go on, he’s still improving technically and has been scoring more and more incredible goals.

“Stramaccioni has innovative ideas, this is what we wanted and he’s applying them to the team. It’s a new way to manage the changing room and the technical side of coaching, we all work together with great enthusiasm.

“Milan are a big club with a long tradition of winning, we remain a provincial side and with our smaller earnings, we can only plan our budget a certain way.”
