Udinese goalkeeper Simone Scuffet has revealed his intentions to give coach Stramaccioni a hard time.

The goalkeeper, who is widely tipped as the heir apparent to Italy No.1 Gianluigi Buffon, has struggled for playing time this season, due to injuries, and failed to make a single Serie A appearance.

An Udinese youth product, Scuffet was a revelation last season with over 16 appearances for the Zebrette.

“This year I’m not playing as much as last season, also I’ve had some injuries which have slowed my progress,” Scuffet told Sky Sport Italia.

“Now I’m recovering and I want to give the coach [Andrea Stramaccioni] a headache.

About the Atletico Madrid offer Scuffet received in the summer, the youngster explained why he turned down the chance to move to the La Liga champions.

“I turned down Atletico Madrid in the summer because I preferred to continue my development at Udinese, a club which has helped me a lot.

“I’m working with the club to be fit and ready for the most important games.

“Do I regret not going to Atletico? I’m happy with the choices I made; I’ll stay in Udine in the January transfer window too.”
