Cagliari coach Zdenek Zeman was disappointed that his team did not convert the decisive penalty in the Isolani’s 1-1 draw against Genoa.

Isolani left-back Avelar had his penalty saved by Genoa goalkeeper Mattia Perin and Cagliari striker Samuele Longo failed to put away the rebound.

Aside from the missed penalty, Zeman did acknowledge that his team struggled to play their game and that Genoa were stronger physically.

“Today we did not win because we did not have one more goal than our opponent,” Zeman told Sky Sport Italia.

“We had some trouble in the middle of the park and then for the three points, if we cannot score a penalty, or rather two penalties because Longo’s is a penalty on the go, it’s hard to win.

“We had difficulty getting the measures in midfield [right] and then Genoa is a strong team. We have suffered also because of the physical strength of their defence.”
