mattia perinFormer Italian national goalkeeper Dino Zoff has heaped praise on both Orestis Karnezis and Mattia Perin, labelling the pair the best glovesmenĀ in Serie A.

Both Karnezis and Perin have been in fine form for Udinese and Genoa respectively, the clubs respectable league positions are owed in some part to their goalkeepers performances.

Zoff was speaking to Radioblu about a range of issues in Italian football, predominantly dealing with goalkeeping including the form of Fiorentina’s Neto.

“It’s going well, he’s young and can only get better: he is taking confidence that is essential for a goalkeeper. I think Karnezis and Perin are the best goalies in Series A.”

The World Cup winner also took time to give his thoughts on his former side Napoli and their game with Fiorentina on Sunday.

“Napoli have an incredible offensive potential, albeit at the beginning of the season they encountered some difficulties at home, where the lost some important points.

“[Fiorentina] The lack of Rossi was a substantial loss, as well as that of Gomez.[who] is returning just now.

“I think Fiorentina-Napoli is a grand prix match, a game open to any result.”

Finally he commented on the number of foreign players currently plying their trade in the league: “Our young people are struggling to find space when there are so many foreigners in Serie A; [this] all then affects the national team.”
