AC Milan midfielder Giacomo Bonaventura believes outgoing forward Fernando Torres was not offered enough time at the club.

The Spaniard is expected to join Atletico Madrid on loan after he makes his transfer from Chelsea to the Rossoneri a permanent one.

Speaking to Sky Sport Italia the Italian international gave his opinion on Torres’ unsuccessful six months, which resulted in just one goal.

“From Fernando Torres I can learn a great deal, he is a model professional,” the 25 year-old former Atalanta midfielder began.

“I have developed an excellent relationship with him, he needed more time but he had the opportunity to go to Atletico Madrid.

“It’s a team that he loves and he didn’t want to pass up the opportunity of returning.”

Milan are expected to receive Alessio Cerci in a loan exchange for Torres.
