AC Milan are weighing up whether to bring back on-loan Empoli star Simone Verdi to the club in the upcoming transfer window.

The 22-year-old Italian youth international is currently co-owned by both the Rossoneri and Torino, but is spending his second consecutive season on loan at the minnows.

Verdi has flourished under the tutelage of Empoli coach Maurizio Sarri, establishing himself as one of the league’s exciting young midfield talents this season.

MilanNews.it report that Milan are eying Verdi as a possible replacement for Japanese star Keisuke Honda, who is set to leave the club for the Asia Cup in early January.

Verdi came up through the Milan youth system, but has never made a first team appearance for the Rossoneri.
