Giampaolo Pazzini has admitted that he will alone decide when to retire from the game and he will not let anyone else influence his decision.

The 30-year-old AC Milan forward has struggled for form and games over the last two seasons, leaving many parties to be questioning his long term future at the highest level and Pazzini knows that he will not be able to play on forever.

“I will not play on until the age of 40 like [Javier] Zanetti, that is for sure!” he told Calcio2000 as part of a long interview.

“I want to decide when to quit by myself, not for others to force it upon me.

“I would like to stay in football, I don’t see myself coaching, perhaps with youngsters but then you never know…”

He also covered his career goals at the outset of his career.

“As a child I dreamed of playing in Serie A, then I really wanted to play for the national side and then in the Champions League.

“Having won just one Coppa Italia, I now want to win something of real note.

“On a personal note I want to get to 100 Serie A goals (he currently has 97), it is too bad though, since I started thinking about this I have not scored!”
