Massimiliano Allegri Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri is relishing his side’s upcoming Supercoppa Italiana clash with Napoli in Doha.

Allegri feels his team head into the Qatar fixture having enjoyed a fine opening half to the campaign which has seen them open a three point gap at the top of Serie A, as well as making it to the knockout rounds of the Champions League.

“We qualified for the first knockout stage of the Champions League, we are leading the championship and now we play the Supercoppa, which is the secondary goal of our season,” said Allegri when speaking to Rai Sport.

“Then, we can rest a little bit and focus on the second part of the season.

“There are big games when you look ahead to the rest of the season, and you don’t want to make mistakes.”

On their Supercoppa Italiana rivals Napoli, it’s clear that Allegri is wary of their ability to surprise.

“Napoli are an opponent that is more difficult to tackle in a one-off game.

“They have many players capable of settling a game on their own.

“Maybe they don’t always have the balance and perseverance required to fight and win the championship, but in one-off game they can cause you trouble.”

Former AC Milan head coach Allegri had some kind words to say about his Napoli counterpart Rafa Benitez and Argentine international striker Gonzalo Higuain, while also finding time to praise his own forwards in the process.

“[Benitez] is a great coach and a good person, intelligent and is the right coach for Napoli.

“[Higuain] is a great player, one who can decide a game by himself.

“He has extraordinary qualities, but fortunately I have [Carlos] Tevez, [Alvaro] Morata, [Fernando] Llorente, [Sebastian] Giovinco and [Kingsley] Coman, so I’m happy.”
