Antonio Di Natale UdineseItaly boss Antonio Conte has declared the door is still open for Udinese veteran Antonio Di Natale to return to the Azzurri fold.

The Italian national team coach visited the Stadio Friuli this week and had lunch with Udinese chairman Gianpaolo Pozzo and coach Andrea Stramaccioni among others during his tour.

Speaking with Toto [Di Natale], I told him that if today we were in an official competition, I would come here to knock on his door,” Conte told Tuttomercatoweb.

“He’s doing something amazing, I can only congratulate him and wish him the best.

“We’re also keeping an eye on [Simone] Scuffet and [Alex] Meret. They represent two great prospects who are performing well with the national youth team.

“They are goalkeepers who are certainly the future of Italian football, not only for their club, but for the national team. We follow them and they’re doing very well.”

Conte also praised the famed Udinese business model, saying it should be an example for all clubs in the country.

Udinese have a great business model, an example for all Italian football. The Pozzo family is building something amazing, and is assisted by employees of great value, they are doing great things and we can only compliment.

I spoke with Stramaccioni, a young coach who along with [assistant coach Dejan] Stankovic have the opportunity to do great things.”
