AC Milan v Parma - De Jong celebratesNigel de Jong is meeting his agent this week in Amsterdam to consider a contract renewal offer from AC Milan.

Dutch midfielder de Jong is thinking over his future with the Rossoneri, with Schalke said to be waiting in the wings should he fail to sign up.

According to Tuttosport, the Netherlands international wants an agreement lasting three years at a wage of €3 million per season, while AC Milan are willing to offer two years at €2 million per campaign.

His current contract is due to run out in summer 2015, which means he’ll be free to discuss potential transfers to other clubs from January onwards should he decline Milan’s attempts to hold onto his services.

The 30-year-old has featured regularly for Filippo Inzaghi’s men so far this term, making 13 appearances and scoring twice.

Along with a satisfactory new deal, de Jong will also be looking for assurances over his enduring importance in Inzaghi’s future plans before putting pen to paper.
