Former Bologna president Sergio Porcedda could face jail if he is found guilty of the embezzlement of club funds.

The Sardinian property developer acquired a majority stake in the Rossoblu during the summer of 2010 and was president until December of that same year. It alleged that during this time he illegally transferred €3 million of club funds into a bank account of another company which he owned.

Appearing in court in Rome the public prosecutor’s office, lead by Valter Giovannini, has asked the judge for a custodial sentence of two years and four months to be imposed should Porcedda be found guilty.

The 55 year old’s short tenure in charge of the Emilia-Romagna club was something of a disaster with a failure to pay employee’s wages and the club threatened with bankruptcy.
