Genoa boss Gian Piero Gasperini has revealed that his team will be looking to move on from their controversial 1-0 loss to Roma on December 14th by securing a positive result against Torino.

The Grifone will be heading to Turin to face off with the Granata on Sunday and the tactician admits that it’s been hard to remain focused on the task at hand after the unlucky match with the Giallorossi, but remains confident in his squad’s ability to stage a comeback.

Gasperini spoke during his pre-match press conference on Saturday about Genoa’s upcoming clash with Torino and commented on the unfortunate absence of Diego Perotti due to suspension, as the midfielder received a three-match ban for his actions toward referee Luca Banti during the Roma game.

“It was a special week due to the recent controversy and now with Christmas coming up,” said the 56-year-old.

“Our goal now is to find the right concentration for the game tomorrow, otherwise it will be difficult for us to do well.

“Perotti? His suspension is definitely heavy. We’re talking about a player who never has reactions. It all started from a reversed call on a foul involving Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, this is what caused him to become unnerved.

“It was unthinkable that such a thing could happen, but now we have to be good at bouncing back from such a controversy and concentrate on doing well against Torino.”
