Genoa are keen on snapping up on-loan Newcastle striker Facundo Ferreyra from parent club Shakhtar Donetsk.

The 23-year-old Argentinian youth international, who has an Italian passport, joined the English outfit on loan this season, but has yet to make his competitive debut with the club.

Sky Sport Italia report that Genoa have asked the Ukranian champions to see if they could take the young hitman on loan for the rest of the campaign.

Much depends on whether Newcastle are willing to cut short Ferreyra’s loan spell at the club, with boss Alan Pardew seemingly not convinced by the striker’s qualities.

Torino have also been monitoring Ferreyra’s situation, and will contest Genoa for the striker’s signature if he returns to Shakhtar next month.
