Gervinho firmly believes that Roma are still capable of having an incredible season despite crashing out of the Champions League on Wednesday.

The Giallorossi fell to a 2-0 defeat against Manchester City in their final Champions League group fixture and now face a run in the Europa League, but despite the setback for Roma, Gervinho is remaining positive.

“Even though things did not go well in the Champions League, this can still be an incredible season. We must trust [Rudi] Garcia.” he is reported to have told the media in Africa according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

The 27-year-old Ivorian also a had a dig at his former club Arsenal and manager Arsene Wenger.

“[Wenger] He never had any confidence in me. Garcia however, does not differentiate between those who are playing and those who are not.

“For a player this is important, he not only speaks to those on the pitch, he talks to everyone as there are not just 11 players, there are 25 squad members and they are all treated the same way.

“As a child I dreamed of playing for Arsenal because I loved them forever, and now I hate them for the way in which Wenger treated me.

“I regretted leaving them after such a short time without having proved my worth, something I am doing here at Roma instead.”
