Marek Hamsik NapoliNapoli midfielder Marek Hamsik has announced that he and his teammates are motivated and want to win the Supercoppa Italia for their fans.

The game pits the Coppa Italia winners against league champions Juventus and will be held in the Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium in Qatar on December 23.

“This is a final and therefore an important opportunity,” said Hamsik to the Gazzetta dello Sport.

“It’s special because the fans really feel the occasion and we want to give them the pleasure of a victory.”

“The chance of winning a trophy gives you extra motivation,  it would be a great satisfaction for us as players and our supporters.

“It will be a special game, Juventus are a team of champions and they have strong players in every position.”

The Slovakian was also asked about the 2012 Supercoppa in Beijing when the Partenopei controversially lost to Juve in extra time.

“That’s just a bad memory now, that defeat left us really feeling bad.”

“But now we are only thinking of the game that is ahead of us.”

Hamsik also offered his thoughts on how Napoli’s 2014-15 campaign has been going in general.

“We all expected something more from this season and we’ve dropped many important points.”

“We’ll not go back over the Champions League elimination, that shock motivated us to improve.”
