Mauro Icardi believes that Inter must start beating the sides at the top of the table in order for the Nerazzurri to stand any chance of finishing third in Serie A.
Inter currently lie in eleventh place in the league, seven points adrift of Napoli in third, and they play host to Lazio on Sunday and the young striker is clearly focussed on the game.
“We must follow on from the win against Chievo and repeat it against them [Lazio],” he told SportMediaset.
“[Third place?] I’d better not talk about it too much, as right now we have to only think about Lazio.
“We have to beat a direct competitor for the top spots to get ourselves closer to third place.”
Despite Inter’s struggles this season, the 21-year-old Argentine has still managed to find the net eight times in 15 Serie A appearances and has quickly become the main goalscorer at the San Siro club.
