Inter coach Roberto Mancini is reportedly targeting a move for Liverpool central midfielder Lucas Leiva in the January transfer window.

The 27-year-old, who was linked with a move to Napoli earlier this summer has made just five Premier League appearances this season under Brendan Rodgers and his future at the Merseyside club is starting to look uncertain.

And according to SportItalia, the new Nerazzurri boss feels that the Brazilian would be an ideal replacement for Argentinean club legend Esteban Cambiasso, who joined Leiscester City as a free agent in this summer.

Currently in his second spell with Inter, Mancini is believed to have identified the need to sign a good defensive midfielder, especially with his side having conceded 19 goals in the Serie A this season and Lucas could provide the ideal solution according to many.

The former Gremio player has made over 150 appearances for Liverpool since 2007 and won the Liverpool Player of the Season award for the 2010-2011 season.
