AC Milan boss Filippo Inzaghi has stressed the importance of patience and unity at the club and amongst fans in order to achieve long term success in the Serie A.

The Rossoneri are up against fifth place Napoli at the San Siro on Sunday night, in what appears to be a very important fixture for both sides, especially with the Rossoneri winning only once in their previous seven games.

“[Silvio] Berlusconi? The words of the president must be a stimulus to the team,” he told Milan Channel. “He knows so much, and he also knows that it takes patience in order to build a side.

“When we lose he calls me, this unity will help us turn the season around.”

Inzaghi then shared his thoughts on the weekend fixture against the Partenopei, saying that he knows the side well.

“I hope it is a good game,” he said. “They have great attacking play.

“We know their players well, and last season, Milan played a great match but lost to a great goal from [Gonzalo] Higuain.

“We have to turn our form around.”

The Rossoneri will have to do without midfielder Marco van Ginkel, who was injured in training due to a tackle from Sulley Muntari.

“The tackle wasn’t ruthless, otherwise I would’ve intervened ,” he said. “Sulley is a very good boy and was very upset about the incident.

“We lost a player who would have played during this crucial period for us; my thoughts are with Marco at this moment.”

The Rossoneri are currently seventh in the Serie A table on 21 points, five points behind the final UEFA Champions League qualification spot.
