Inter midfielder Mateo Kovacic has reflected on the importance of the team’s 2-0 win over relegation fighters Chievo.

The young Croatian gave his team the upper hand on the 19th minute before Andrea Ranocchia completed the win early in the second half.

Speaking to Sky Sport Italia, the 20 year old talked of his team’s performance and what it means for the club going forward.

“In this challenge the three points were fundamental,” he said. “We had to start with a win and instead arrived two straight losses.

“We had to get a win even though we came into the game with two straight losses.”

The 20-year-old also looked ahead to the upcoming fixtures as well as reflecting on his own performance.

“It is three important points for us and we want to continue this journey with Lazio,” said the Croatian international.

“I talk with the coach often and I have to learn to attack the ball a lot more.”

Kovacic has made 15 appearances this season for Inter, scoring three goals.
