Inter midfielder Mateo Kovacic has revealed that he’s happy with the Biscione and hopes to remain at the club for quite some time.

The talented 20-year-old has reportedly become a main target of multiple clubs throughout Europe as of late including Liverpool, Arsenal and Real Madrid, but he insists that his main mission is to sign a new long-term deal with the San Siro outfit as he looks to help the club get back to the winning ways of the past under new coach Roberto Mancini.

Kovacic spoke to the press during a recent Brooks Brothers event about his responsibilities at Inter and the outside interest in him due to his impressive performances, while also commenting on his desire to extend his current contract with the club.

“The fans’ expectations for me? I’m glad that they expect a lot from me, so I do it for myself,” said the Croatian international.

“However you have to think as a team and everyone must make a contribution, not just me. There are also other good players like Mauro Icardi and Rodrigo Palacio.

“My departure to a big club? Inter already is a big club, now there is a new project and a new coach. You can not rejuvenate a team in six months, it takes two or three years.

“The renewal of my contract? We have been talking again, I feel good and I want to renew. However, there is still a lot of time left on my current contract.”
