Lazio defeated Varese 3-0 at the Stadio Olimpico on Tuesday evening in the Coppa Italia.

The Biancocelesti opened their account through a Abdoulay Konko, before Filip Djordjevic and Felipe Anderson scored a goal each to secure progression to the Round of 16.

Ederson had the first attempt on goal, unleashing a stinging strike which was saved by Filippo Perucchini.

Lazio soon had their opening goal, when Abdoulay Konko’s cross deflected off Stefan Simic to find its way into the net.

Filip Djordjevic made it 2-0 only minutes later when he finished from a tight angle to give Lazio an unassailable lead.

Varese’s Martino Borghese should’ve pulled one back for the Leopardi, but his free header went wide of the post.

Spanish youngster Keita Balde tried his luck from distance soon after, but his strike was parried away by the ever-present Perucchini.

The resulting corner could’ve found the net when the ball reached an unmarked Djordjevic, but the Serbian failed to wrap his foot around it.

The Biancocelesti had the chance to make it 3-0 near the hour mark when Cristian Ledesma found Djordjevic, but the former Nantes man fluffed his shot wide.

However, Le Aquile had their third with ten minutes remaining when Felipe Anderson’s powerful strike found the back of the net.
